Match Report
Christ's Hospital Boys-U12 Marlins vs  Maidstone Grammar School
On: Saturday, 12 Jan 2019
Venue: at Home

In their first competitive outing, the Marlins showed a determination to improve, right until the final whistle, despite finding themselves outmatched by a strong side from Maidstone Grammar. Team Captain Daniel Mosuro offered his players some helpful pre-match guidance, in setting out the aims: to identify and attack space and to retain possession. These things, CH achieved in patches, but it was in the players' defensive play where they were most heavily tested (and this may be a target for the future). To their credit, the Maidstone players and coach treated the match in entirely the right spirit, even allowing CH a numerical advantage, with the aim of avoiding any sense of these young players becoming disillusioned. It was a difficult but still valuable start to the season, and many of the players left the field feeling positive.
